Oxford Semiconductor presented with Queen's Award for Enterprise and Royal Grant of Appointment
The Queen's local representative, Mr Hugo Brunner, Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, presented Oxford Semiconductor with the Queen's Award for Enterprise and the Royal Grant of Appointment at a ceremony held at the company's Milton Park, Abingdon Headquarters on the 9th July.
Accepting the award, an engraved crystal bowl, and the Grant of Appointment, Oxford Semiconductor CEO, James Foster said, "The company is very proud to receive this accolade, which recognises our achievement in international trade. By focusing on real customer needs and continuous product innovation we have become a leader in a highly competitive global market."
Used in a variety of cutting-edge consumer electronic products, Oxford Semiconductors' connectivity chips and embedded software are exported to more than twenty countries throughout Asia, Europe and North America. In particular, it's high speed FireWire to IDE bridge ICs are considered to be a market leader in the external hard disk drive sector. The company posted overseas earnings for the last three years of more than £23 million.
The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious awards
for business performance. They recognise and reward outstanding achievement
by UK companies. The Awards are made each year by the Queen, on the advice
of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an Advisory Committee that includes
representatives of Government, industry and commerce and Trade Unions.
